Pansexual people are attracted to all genders (male, female, non-binary, agender and all others) "equally". That is, the gender a person has does not make a difference in how attractive they may be to a pansexual person. This contrasts with Omnisexual people, who are also attracted to all genders but they might have preferences. Because of this Pansexual people are often considered "genderblind", however as always there's a lot of nuance and many people who are pansexual still "see" gender, it just doesn't affect how attracted they are to someone.
Some Pansexual people will use the more generic term Bisexual (using the broader definition) because it is more widely understood, others insist on the Pansexual because they want to explicitly include non-binary agender and other-gendered people.
- If you are attracted to both men and women, you are Bisexual
- If you are attracted to more than one gender (for example men and enbies), you are Polysexual
- If you are attracted to all genders but not necessarily to the same degree, you are Omnisexual
- If you are attracted to all genders and it doesn't matter, you are Pansexual
- If you are attracted to metals, you are a magnet.
All of these also have romantic versions and your romantic attraction does not have to match your sexual one. For example you could be Polysexual but Panromantic (Asexual-panromantic is a common combination).
No, Pansexual people are not attracted to pans. Yes, we've heard that one before.
